If you’re a parent, you know just how much work goes into raising a little one. From diapers and bottles to ballet class and sports practice, there is a lot of stress involved in the process. Fortunately, all of the work is well worth the multitude of snuggles and kisses a parent receives in return.

As rapid innovation continues with IoT technologies, the results of their combined use are yet to be fully understood. The reverberations of the shift, though, will be felt as an after effect of the sweeping change, the transformation from outdated legacy systems, modes, methods, and tools – to innovative online software solutions in the cloud.

Top 5 Chicago Weekly Events: Week of Oct. 3

October 3rd, 2016 Posted by Car, Chicago Events, Chicago Travel Tips, Community, mobile app, Parking, ParqEx, sharing economy, startup No Comment yet

There are tons of fun events going on this week in Chicago and we’re going to make it easier for you to attend them. Not just because we’re listing them on this blog post, but once you get to the event, we’re going to help you park. Now you might be thinking something like, “How is this blog going to help me park?” or “Driving to a crowded event is something I will never ever do.” You’ll be surprised how easy we’re making parking.

Once you decide which of the events listed below you want to attend this weekend, download the ParqEx App on the App Store or Google Play for Android and simply plug in the address of or near the event you’ll be going to. From there, you’ll see all of our parking listings close to the event that you’ll be able to rent for the entire day. It’s easy, convenient, and affordable.

Now that you’re confident with your parking situation (“confident” and “parking” used to be an oxymoron, but not anymore) here’s a list of five events you should check out in Chicago this week:

1.) Rocktober Beer Fest

Where? West Loop, Randolph and Ogden, 1101 W. Adams St.

When? October 7-9, Friday, 5-11 pm; Saturday, 12 Noon-11 pm; Sunday, 12 Noon-10 pm

I mean, the name alone should make you want to go. There will be beer. There will be rock. There will be brats. What else do you need to know? The Rocktober Beer Fest will play on the traditional theme of an authentic German Oktoberfest. Local bands will be heard, beers will be consumed, brats will be eaten, and I will most certainly be there.

West Loop parking used to be tough; not so much anymore. Reserve a parking spot for the Rocktober Beer Fest now using ParqEx. You shouldn’t spend your weekends worrying about parking, and you won’t anymore.

2.) Chicago Cubs Playoffs

It’s that time of year again: playoff time. Watch your Chicago Cubs Friday and Saturday at historic Wrigley Field as they face off in games 1 and 2 of the NLDS against the winner of the Giants/Mets wild card game. Yes, ticket prices are steep, so if going to a game this weekend is not in your budget, head to Wrigleyville and experience the hype from the bars. The city is excited for good reason and being in Wrigleyville during Cubs playoff games is a blast. Make sure you wear your comfortable shoes; seating inside the bars will be almost certainly hard to come by!

As you probably already know, parking in Wrigleyville is difficult, but we’re here to make it easier for you. Our private parking platform gives you access to parking spots you never had access to before. Check out our parking inventory by searching “Wrigley Field” on the ParqEx platform and reserve your spot. Don’t let parking get in the way of your Cubs game day experience.

3.) Bank of America Chicago Marathon

When? Sunday, Oct. 9, 8:00 am

Where? Grant Park

45,000 runners will take center stage this weekend at the annual Chicago Marathon. If you’re one of them, congrats and good luck! If you’re not running, you can still be a part of the fun (because running 26.2 miles is obviously fun…). Don’t hit the snooze button this Sunday morning; head to Grant Park early and watch some of the best runners in the world compete. Have a friend running? Grab a poster, some markers, and your best cheering voice and will them to the finish line.

 4.) Alessia Cara Concert

When? Friday, October 7, 8:00 pm

Where? Chicago Theatre

There’s a new breed of pop star seizing hold of the world’s airwaves and online—more accurately, a conscious-pop star who’s set to subversively top charts and sway hearts and minds. This enigma embodied is 18-year-old  Alessia Cara, who’s riding the refrains of her ironic anthem, “Here.” Premiered by The Fader, “Here” garnered over 500,000 total streams in it’s first week, resounding praise for its freshness and insight. Check her out this Friday night at the Chicago Theatre. Information courtesy of

5.) Rosehill Cemetery Crypt 5K Run & Walk

Where? 5800 N. Ravenswood Ave.

When? Saturday, Oct. 8, 7:00 pm

Check out fall’s most ‘spirited’ event! It’s the 5th annual 5K on the grounds of the north side’s historic Rosehill Cemetery. Run or walk on the sprawling 350-acre Victorian-era cemetery that opened in 1864. It’s by far the largest cemetery in the City of Chicago (and second largest in Illinois).

Monuments! Mausoleums! Scenic paths! And then there’s the eternal spirits who reside in Rosehill. Among them: more than 10 Chicago mayors, Oscar Mayer, John G. Shedd, Cubs’ announcer Jack Brickhouse, legendary adman Leo Burnett, Sears founder Julius Rosenwald and scores of Civil War vets are just a few of the souls who call Rosehill home.

In addition, there will also be a post run/walk party. Information courtesy of Chicago Events.

Chicago Parking Can Be Easy

September 30th, 2016 Posted by mobile app, Parking, parking spots, ParqEx, sharing economy No Comment yet

Recently, Toronto Metro wrote an article about parking; not Chicago parking but parking nonetheless. Parking isn’t just a problem in Chicago, or even the United States for that matter. Parking sucks in Canada, too.

Let me summarize an article written by Matt Elliot before you head over to read it directly from him. Basically, the Toronto Parking Authority (TPA) is a public agency. They strive to help the parking situation across Toronto.

In 2016, the TPA plans on spending over $340 million on parking expansion. Like I said, the TPA is a public agency. This large sum of money could be directed elsewhere, but instead it’s being used to fund huge parking garages and parking lots – essentially, patches of land for cars to sit in.

Click here to read Matt Elliot’s article on the parking problem in Toronto.

This is just another article that validates the ParqEx business model. You may be asking yourself: why are you posting an article written in Toronto about the Toronto parking situation? Well, the answer is simple. Every city in the United States has some problem with parking. The simple response to the limited supply of parking in cities is to build more massive parking garages.

ParqEx has another solution. As a people, we can do more to solve the parking problem ourselves. For example, Chicago Parking in the West Loop is extremely difficult. If every business and individual listed their parking spaces on the ParqEx platform and made them available for rent when they are not using them, parking instantly becomes more available – not to mention the revenue these businesses and individuals will receive from listing and renting their spots. Rent parking Chicago! List parking Chicago!

It’s pretty simple. Share your parking spaces. Help others. Make money.

How the Evolution of Connected Cars is Changing the Real Estate Tech Landscape

Park Smarter, Live Better

September 7th, 2016 Posted by Car, Chicago Travel Tips, Community, mobile app, Parking, ParqEx, startup No Comment yet

Park the way YOU want! Here are 4 reasons why using ParqEx will make your life a lot better:

  • You’ll save money. It’s simple: parking in the city using ParqEx will save you money. We all hate that feeling of spending $20 on something, later to find out that same thing was available for $10. Once you pay that $50 to park outside Wrigley Field, you’re not getting that money back after you realize ParqEx had an available spot even closer to the stadium for half the price. With parking, unfortunately there are no price adjustments or price matching. Why pay more than you should for parking when you can be spending your hard earned money on things you love; like Cubs and Blackhawks tickets. Start spending money the way you want to spend it. It’s more fun that way!

  • You’ll make money. There aren’t too many things better than making money while doing nothing. If you’re already making money by sitting on the couch watching the Bears on Monday Night Football, well, here’s a way you can be making more money – and if you’re not yet as lucky as the Bears fan mentioned above, here’s where ParqEx comes to the rescue. It’s as easy as downloading the ParqEx app on your smart phone or tablet or visiting the ParqEx website and listing your parking spot on our platform. It’s like listing your apartment on Airbnb, but doing so with your parking spot. So if you’re working a 9-5 job or going on vacation for a week, list your parking spot on ParqEx daily, weekly, or monthly and start earning the money you deserve.

  • You’re caring about your community. Parking can be frustrating. Very frustrating. Why? Because there always seems to be WAAAY more cars looking for parking than parking spots available. ParqEx is solving the parking crisis by making more parking spots readily available, but we can’t do it without your help. By listing your spot on the ParqEx website or app, you can help out your community by making it easier for everyone to park – and in turn, these people can spend more time doing what they want to do in your city.

  • Believe it or not, you’ll have fun! We all know the satisfying feeling of finding the perfect parking spot. It’s usually worthy of a fist pump or a high five with the person in the passenger seat. ParqEx makes you feel that way every single time you park. Using ParqEx, you can see all of the spots available near your destination. Try to find the spot that you think is most valuable!

“With so many fantastic startups launching in our community, it was especially thrilling to announce ParqEx as Chicago’s Best Technology Startup,” said Tech in Motion organizer David Belsky, Regional Director of Jobspring Partners and Workbridge Associates Chicago. “The competition was intense, with more than 11,000 votes coming in. We plan to keep honoring top Chicago-area leaders like ParqEx as a part of our annual Timmy Awards.”

ParqEx is accessible via smartphone and the web and provides drivers with immediate access to an exclusive parking inventory. The ParqEx Access+ garage door opener services is the first of its kind and offers access to parking located behind doors and gates. With Access+, residents and approved visitors can open garage doors and gates from their smart phones, making more parking available to the community. ParqEx continues to grow

“The ParqEx team is honored to receive this award and is looking forward to helping more and more people not only find affordable parking, but help parking spot owners make some extra money,” ParqEx CEO, Vivek Mehra said, “Our company will solve the parking crisis that impacts many communities by making parking easier, affordable and more readily available.”

ParqEx App Chat Feature

ParqEx Launches New Chat Feature

August 8th, 2015 Posted by Garage, mobile app, Parking, ParqEx, sharing economy No Comment yet
iPhone Demo

This is our new chat feature. Rent from Spot if you can, we hear he’s a nice guy!

The best part about being who we are is the fact that we thrive on our customer suggestions to improve our user interface and experience.

By popular demand, it was a no-brainer to add a chat feature in-app. As of now, renters and owners can chat with one another about a listing and can exchange details and preferences to avoid confusion.

We aim to make this one more great improvement to layer on to an overall simpler way to park in and around the city.

The update is available on Android, iOS and website.

Sure, our update is small, but we are excited and hope you are too.

If you ever have an idea or suggestion, e-mail us at: or tweet us @ParqEx.

ParqEx at Randolph Street Market

ParqEx is Developing Community in the Big City

July 8th, 2015 Posted by Community, Parking, ParqEx, sharing economy No Comment yet

ParqEx stands as the first neighbor2neighbor parking app and list service to exist in Chicago. However, what makes ParqEx distinctive in its function & purpose is the way it aims to be a community-based platform.

ParqEx CEO & founder Vivek with Michael and Daniel welcome a neighbor at the Randolph Street Market in Chicago.

Some people may never think to talk to or greet their neighbor down the block. ParqEx is a game changer because it has the ability to bring folks together for a common need; parking.

Parking in a city like Chicago is a disaster, but folks can attest to their knowledge, those secret spots. They may know a friend. They may own a spot themselves. This is a demand from the people, ParqEx recognizes this demand and offers a shared platform to give and take the needs of a community and simplify the exchange. Naturally, relationships have the potential to be created.

Aside from maintaining the technology to support a community exchange and its development, our marketing campaigns are timely and address local events in our community, in and around Chicago. ParqEx has a presence at gatherings with the “Street Team” offering short conversations about our app, account creation, and of course, photo ops with our neighbors!

We are looking to stand with and sponsor community partners. Sit tight to see what we have in store next.

ParqEx is changing the way technology brings community together.

How is ParqEx different?

February 10th, 2015 Posted by Parking, ParqEx, sharing economy No Comment yet

There are plenty of parking applications to choose from. Plenty are more established, and pretty much any of them will get you a parking spot. So why choose us?

• We’re community-oriented. Unlike many parking sites and apps, we focus on renting you spaces from people in your community. You can give back to your friends, neighbors and co-workers by selecting their spot, and provide feedback to improve things for those people too.

• We’re reasonably priced. The idea behind these parking applications is that they’re cheaper, right? So why do some of these new apps charge so much? At ParqEx, we focus on providing you with the space you need, and let each owner set the fee that they feel is appropriate.

• We’re constantly improving. We don’t believe that things are ever perfect, so we work toward always bettering ourselves and what we offer. New updates release new features and changes that you’ve asked for. Trust us, we’re really listening to what you want and working to make it happen.

• We’re easy to use. Why make things harder than they have to be? With our app, it takes you less time and effort to rent or list a parking spot than many other applications make it. We know that you don’t have time to waste, so we ensure that we don’t take up more of it than we need to.

And those are just a few things! When you add everything up, we can hardly be competed against. We making parking, renting it or selling it, benefits you in ways that it just hasn’t before. Don’t miss out on all this; be sure to check us out.

New Feature: Cancellation

February 10th, 2015 Posted by Feature, Parking, ParqEx No Comment yet

It’s wonderful to be able to book a parking spot in advance, but what about when your plans changed? You don’t want to pay for a place you no longer need, do you? Of course not! That’s why our team has been working diligently to create a New Feature: Cancellation in ParqEx. Now when your plans change, you aren’t going to be charged for it.

The cancellation feature allows you to cancel your reservation and receive a full refund up until 2 hours before the time of your reservation. If you don’t remember that, you can find that information underneath the availability for different spots or read the terms and conditions. For long-term parking cancellations, you’ll have to contact the host.

However, assuming you’re cancelling a short-term reservation, the process couldn’t be simpler. On the parking pass details screen, you’ll find the Cancellation policy listed once again — but this time, it is accompanied by a link that says, “Cancel This Reservation.” By clicking that at least two hours before your reservation starts, you’ve effectively cancelled your spot.

Want to double check? Look for the red circle when going through your reservations, where you can search by date and time. Yellow is expired, green is purchased and valid, and red confirms that you have cancelled the reservation. No need to worry about whether or not it went through!

If you click the reservation that you’ve cancelled, you’ll see that it also says cancelled. As well, your option to check-in will be gone, leaving you only able to save or contact the host.

As the host in this situation, you will be alerted immediately when someone cancels their reservation for your spot. It will be listed within your reservation details screen, so you’re able to get your spot back on the market as soon as possible.

This cancellation policy allows hosts and guests to easily change their plans and make adjustments on the spot, all within the app. What’s not to like about that?
